Advocacy
CWL, as an independent bar association, conducts a dynamic grassroots legislative program on behalf of women’s rights. Under the direction of CWL’s legislative committee and staff, CWL’s statewide network of women’s bar associations provides key women lawyer contacts in legislative districts throughout the state. CWL is a strong voice in the public policy debate that shapes standards for women’s rights in the workplace and society.
CWL’s current legislative priority areas include domestic violence, gender bias, employment law, family law and health care, including abortion rights and breast cancer. CWL provides input in these and other legislative areas that have a special impact on women and children. CWL also sends a delegate to the State Bar Conference of Delegates and takes a stand on resolutions affecting women and children.
